Myofascial release therapy is a soft tissue massage that targets areas of pain. During this therapy session, gentle pressure is used on the connective tissue where restrictions and pain are present. When a gentle pressure is applied slowly to the area being treated, it allows the fascia to elongate.
The goal of this treatment is to stretch and loosen the fascia. This help allow a greater range of motion and help to relieve the pain. Bonds that exists between muscles, fascia, and bones are released during this massage which helps to reduce the pain and increase movement in different patients.
